Virtual Dream House Finish Plan

By Unknown | At 4:00 AM | Label : , | 0 Comments

For the next step in designing my virtual dream home I've picked out all my finishes for my dream lake house.  Walking through the floor plan of my David Weekly house in Lake Village last week inspired me to pick a light and airy design scheme.  I really wanted to leave a neutral palette for lots of color and pattern in accessories and furniture.

Here is the basics of what I came up with. I got to actually go down to the David Weekly design showroom and choose everything I wanted in person. I had a pretty good budget but nothing crazy to work with. I picked a few places to splurge and a few places to save.

I remember when Josh and I went to pick our finishes for the house we currently live in and it was rough. I had NO idea what to choose. It was so stressful.  I think most new home owners feel this way. The design center staff said they've even had people there for up to five hours! Torture. I went in and picked the whole house in less than two hours. It helped that I know what I like and I've spent a long time figuring out my style. If you are building a new home I suggest you spend a lot of time on Pinterest honing your own style.

For flooring throughout the house I chose this carpet.

In my perfect world I would have light light carpet but let's be honest, unless it's covered in plastic that won't work. So this one is a good in-between. You cant really tell in the picture but it has a lot of dark tones in it. I also like the subtle pattern. It reminded me of a jute rug.

I also did hardwood throughout the main level.

Antiqued Laminate Floor

I love the look of dark wood but it's not easy to keep clean and with this house being by the lake I knew it would get a lot of traffic and dirt. I chose a laminate to stay in the budget. I have laminate in my own house and we've been really happy with it. I will say that it definitely bubbles in any place where you let water sit too long. So that you have to be careful with.

In the master bathroom I chose a marble tile set in a herringbone pattern.
Traditional Bathroom by Woodbridge Tile, Stone & Countertops Cercan Tile Inc.

For the paint I wanted to keep it mostly neutral as well so I chose Repose Gray for the walls and Pure White for the doors, ceilings and trim.

For the Kitchen I'm doing white cabinets, white subway tile and a gray island.

For the counters I chose a white quartz.

I'm doing shaker style cabinets. This is by far my favorite cabinet style.

I chose to do nickel finishes throughout the house. For the Kitchen hardware I'm doing bin pulls on the drawers and round knobs on all the doors.

I can't wait to show you how I'll be decorating this house! Stay tuned next week!

Don't forget to follow along with the other bloggers as well! They are all super talented.
